The Viu la musica la ciutat circuit continues with the concerts that make up its programme. The initiative promoted by the Valencia City Council in collaboration with the Association of Music Promoters of the Valencian Community (MusicaProCV) began last July with the aim of boosting the music sector and encouraging attendance at the Cap i Casal concert halls . Thus, performers such as Santero y Los Muchachos, Jorge Drexler, Ana Torroja, La Casa Azul, Muchachito Bombo Infierno, Kumbia Queers and Asteroid B-612 have been part of the project during the months of July, August and September.
Viu la musica la ciutat is a proposal that supports the various agents of the Valencian music industry for the reactivation of their activity. It should also be noted that the programming has been prepared following the criteria of musical quality, stylistic variety, gender parity and diversity of geographical origin. In addition, the presence of consolidated and new performers has been combined in more than 30 musical events that will be held in a total of 13 rooms and venues. The festival will have the participation of 9 promoters from the city of Valencia.
In the words of the Councilor for Culture of the Valencia City Council, Glòria Tello, “from the council we are aware that culture professionals need all the support of public administrations. For this reason, the City Council has approved a subsidy not only for music promoters, but also for live music venues. We have great wealth in this sense in our city, an aspect that stimulates and generates jobs, and that is why we will always be supporting these initiatives”.
For his part, the president of MusicaProCV, Sergi Almiñana, has underlined “the importance of having institutional support that contributes to culturally structuring the city and that aspires to stabilize the venue circuit and its musical programming beyond festivals.”
Since the month of October, the festival has brought proposals from La Mississippi Blues Band, Flamenco en Vivo, Cod Routers, Don Joaquín, Knowing Russia and Juan Belda to four different venues in the city of Valencia, such as Peter Rock Club, Radio City , 16 Tons and Moon Room. Performances will resume on Sunday, October 30, with the Sara Dowling Quartet’s jazz concert at the Matisse Club. A day later, Londoners Stereolab will bring their pop to the Moon Room.
The poster for the Viu la musica a la ciutat circuit for the month of November includes 20 performers on eight stages at Cap i Casal. American folk-rock singer-songwriter Will Johnson will perform at the Loco Club on Thursday, November 3. A day later, El Volander will host Iratxo, the project by Juanma Cifuentes, who returns to the stage after a temporary break. On the same Friday, November 4, Júlia Plans will play at the Mercedes Jazz. On Saturday the 5th, guitarist Tomatito, who has accompanied Camarón de la Isla, Enrique Morente or Paco de Lucía, will demonstrate his quality at the Palau de les Arts. On the other hand, the Scottish band The Silencers, who mix pop, folk and Celtic melodies, will perform their first concert at the Loco Club, where they will also perform on Sunday 6.

Later, on Thursday the 17th, Rocío Márquez and Bronquio will bring their 21st-century flamenco proposal to La Rambleta. On Friday the 18th, Rigoberta Bandini will stop at the Palau de les Arts as part of the Rigotour tour before taking a rest period. A few hours later, on Saturday the 19th, Madrid-born Depedro will present his latest album, Máquina de piedad, at La Rambleta. The McEnroe band will perform on that same stage on Friday 25th. The Viu la musica a la ciutat circuit will also host shows for family audiences. Thus, on Saturday 26, the October Center for Contemporary Culture will open its doors to the Trobadorets group. On the same day, the North American jazz vocalist Melody Gardot will give a recital at the Palau de Les Arts.
The festival will also have several appointments during the month of December. Thus, the Valencian artists Niuss, L’Home Brut and Nonai Sound will disembark at La Salà on Thursday 1st. The local pop-rock band Humanian will perform on Friday 2nd at Sala Moon. Finally, urban and electronic rhythms will be the main basis of the Colomet and Lal’ba concerts on Friday the 23rd at La Salà, where Macondo will also play.
