The Pandicosa International Festival celebrates its X anniversary with great concerts and musical excursions

ANDl International Bread Festivaldicosa, ‘Tocando el Cielo’ returns once again to the peaks of the Aragonese Pyrenees to become an international benchmark for classical music. The tenth edition of a festival that unites music and nature in a unique and wonderful setting. The Festival will offer diverse and varied activities for music lovers, which will be held in the spaces of the Balneario de Pangavething, as well as in the town between July 17 and 23.

After ten years with an unsurpassed trajectory, the Festival once again shows off its artistic level: the person in charge of opening this tenth edition will be the Venezuelan mezzo-soprano of Canarian origin, Nancy Fabiola Herrera, which will offer a concert on July 17 at 7:30 p.m. She will not do it alone, the pianist will be with her Ruben Fernandez Aguirre to present his new album ‘Ensueños’.

The festival this year is structured in several cycles: big concerts, jazztangueando, vermouth concert and the off festival. “There are so many activities in our programming that we have to expand and have new scenarios,” he said. But the Panticosa Festival this year is much more. Among the activities that fill the program, other cycles stand out, such as Jazztangueando with the rhythms and dances of Iberotango and the conversations of Humberto Rodríguez and Pablo Ríos. This cycle draws attention for becoming a gastronomic-musical experience that will absolutely delight all the senses.

The duet formed by Humberto Ríos and Pablo Rodríguez will do a double and in their second performance they will offer the vermouth concert ‘Son Son’, within the framework of the Vermús Concierto cycle. The Duo Palmia, formed by Pascual Montesinos and Álvaro Fernández, will also perform in this Jazztangueando cycle. In this sense, the Festival has scheduled some of the groups that have been promoted and awarded scholarships by the García Esteban Foundation over these ten years “for us it is very important to see how these artists began their professional careers at our Festival”.

Musical excursions and artistic gatherings

And the Festival of Bread still has another cycledicosa to celebrate this tenth anniversary: ​​the Off Festival, full of activities related to art and nature. Among the novelties, the artistic excursions stand out to listen to music between the Pyrenean peaks after touring the Footbridges, some spectacular hanging steps in the wall of the gorge itself in a route of 800 meters.

The excursion will end enjoying a formidable concert by the clarinetist and composer Dani Blázquez, in one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the Valley. A second excursion will go through the Valle de la Ripera and will finish listening to ‘Maletas Vacías’ by Pato Badaín and Daniel Escolano. In addition, several artistic gatherings stand out with the painter Eva Armisén, but also of a literary nature with writers such as Manuel Vilas, Ana Merino, among others.the people.

One of the highlights of this cycle is the collaboration that the Bread Festivaldicosa maintains this year with the International Film Festival of OResca and which will enable two screenings: ‘Goya, May 3’, by Carlos Saura; and the Palmares of the 50th anniversary of the Huesca Film Festival.

Classical music is for all kinds of audiences and with that idea the Orchestral Workshop “Cuerdas al Cielo” and the Workshops “Meceme, growing with music” were born. These activities are intended to integrate children in a joint and sensory musical experience. After a few days of meeting, they will show their work with great enthusiasm in the Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen de Pandicosa town. Diego Tejedor, double bass teacher, will be in charge of this training.

Estrella Morente and the Duo Moreno Gistain close the Festival

And as a final climax, on July 23 at 10:30 p.m. with a tribute to the writer María Lejárraga, Estrella Morente will offer a concert. The cantaora gives voice to a woman whose husband was responsible for signing her plays for a long time. Years later we learned that Lejárraga, teacher and first deputy in the II República, was the writer of such important works as the libretto for ‘Amor Brujo’, which Manuel de Falla wrote for Pastora Imperio in 1915. Estrella Morente and the Dúo Moreno, the brothers Juan Fernando and José Enrique Moreno Gistaín, will close the 10th anniversary of the bread festivaldicosa ‘Touching the Sky’.
