According to the Consistory in a note, “as it has been its main hallmark, it continues with its firm commitment to educational concerts whose main objective is to introduce this type of music in the city’s secondary schools.” This year the youngest will be able to enjoy on October 18 and 19 at the ‘Rafael Orozco’ Conservatory of Music of ‘Dijazzticos’ with the Quinteto Magua.

The Góngora Theater will host the ‘Vulcanized’ concerts, performed by Arbenz, Vistel, Moutin and Pursglove on Thursday, October 13, and on the 14th there will be a live show by saxophonist Francisco Blanco Quartet and trumpeter David Pastor.

The cycle closes this year at the Fuenseca Cinema on Thursday, October 20 with the Andalucía Big Band with ‘The Golden Age of Big Bands’.

Among the main attractions of this edition, the delegate for Culture, Marián Aguilar (PP), has highlighted that “there will be the premiere of the Cordoba production ’40’s: Mujeres & Jazz’ and the grand closing with a festive atmosphere with the concert by the Andalucía Big Band, one of the best Big Band music formations”.

THE STUDENTS

For his part, the delegate for Education, Manuel Torrejimeno (Cs), pointed out that “within the framework of the Encounter with Music Educational Program, organized by the Delegation for Education and Childhood, one of the objectives is to publicize other forms and musical expressions to the schoolchildren of the city”.

In this sense, he has asserted that they want to “bring children closer to the musical style of jazz and for this two sessions of educational concerts have been scheduled at the Qurtubajazz Festival”.

The ‘Dijazzticos’ concerts are aimed at schoolchildren in the 3rd cycle of Primary and 1st of ESO –that is, from 10 to 14 years old– and the attendance of 512 children from seven centers in the city has already been confirmed –full capacity for both sessions–.

With these proposals, the Delegation of Education and Childhood continues to bet on the coordination between municipal areas and services for the development of projects, as well as continues deepening the concept of the Educating City, “promoting, in this case, activities aimed at learning and enjoyment of the arts and culture, fundamental instruments for the integral development of children”.
