The musician Pablo Alborán has canceled this Friday some of his concerts scheduled for the next few days after testing positive for covid-19. The singer-songwriter has announced the decision via a statement on Instagram addressed to his followers in which he ensures that he will have to “quarantine until the negative test result”. Something that forces him, for now, to suspend the shows scheduled for this Sunday and this Monday, May 1 and 2, in A Coruña and which are part of his Theater Tour 2022.
“The singer is fine, wishing to recover soon to continue his Theater Tour,” reads the publication, which warns that the tickets for the canceled concerts will also be valid for the new appointments. The announcement comes just a few days after the singer-songwriter also had to suspend two performances in Zaragoza due to a throat condition. “Family, I am very very sad. I have tried to go ahead and not postpone the concerts in Zaragoza today and tomorrow, but the doctor has recommended absolute rest. It makes me very angry not to have been able to warn before. I’m really sorry for the inconvenience, ”he said then. Those concerts, which should have been held on April 27 and 28, have been rescheduled again for the end of May.
Alborán, 32, has practically hung up the “no tickets” sign in almost all the appointments scheduled in the tour, and those of A Coruña —which were going to take place in the Palacio de la Ópera— were no exception. The next concert is scheduled for May 6 in Córdoba, although its celebration will depend on whether the man from Malaga recovers by then or not.
This is the second time that Alborán has passed the covid-19. As he himself said in an interview on the program The resistance, it already did in 2020, albeit slightly. That same year, the musician also jumped into the media for his personal life when he openly declared his homosexuality before his five million followers on Instagram. He did it with a video of more than three minutes long in which he stated that he needed to “be a little happier than he already was” and that is why he had decided to take the step. “Many people assume it, know it or simply don’t care, since in my house, in my family, I have always felt the freedom to be able to love whoever I wanted, to dedicate myself to what I wanted. I have felt supported and accompanied when it comes to fulfilling each of my dreams”, he explained then, hoping that his words would make the path “easier for someone”.
Alborán debuted in 2010 with the single Only youone of his greatest hits with Excuse me, which he performed with the Portuguese singer Carminho. In addition to devoting his time to his professional career, the musician – who has 39 platinum records – has been a UNICEF ambassador since 2021 after eight years collaborating with the organization. “There are still too many children and adolescents around the world who live in an environment of violence, war or forced displacement, who do not have access to the most basic services or who do not have the necessary opportunities. And for many of them the pandemic is making it even more complicated. Without childhood there is no progress”, he declared at the ceremony of his appointment.
