instagram Is preach.
The social media app blocked Madonna from going online after posting a series of scantily clad photos of herself.
The “Dad Don’t Preach” singer, 63, shared a video early Friday morning that showed the moment she found out she had been blocked.
” What is that ? Madonna said when she saw the “Blocked from Sharing Live Video” message pop up. “What is happening?”
She then joked, “I’ve never worn so many clothes in my life.”
The Queen of Pop’s friend and team member then read the app’s community guidelines, which stated in part: “We want Instagram to continue to be an authentic and safe place to inspiration and expression.”
“I’m speechless,” Madonna said in response.
The Grammy winner took to her Instagram Stories to record herself on a call with her ‘Frozen on Fire’ collaborator, Sickick, who she was about to live with, and told him that Instagram was “really mysterious” why they blocked her.
” I do not know why. They don’t give me a reason,” she said. “It’s like a bureaucracy inside a computer.”
Madonna noted that she hadn’t posted “nothing crazy” on the app – “not this week anyway”.
“It may have been a late reaction to my NFTs from last week, but I’m not really sure,” she added.
Madonna recently released an NFT collection titled “Mother of Creation,” in which a 3D version of herself appeared fully nude and gave birth to butterflies, insects, and trees.
The “Hung Up” singer apologized to her fans on her Instagram Stories for not being able to chat with them on Live.
“I’m sorry to let everyone down,” she said. “I was really looking forward to it.”
This isn’t the first time Instagram has tried to censor Madonna.
In November 2021, the app deleted a post shared by the “Like a Virgin” singer because her nipple was apparently exposed in the photo.
Madonna blasted Instagram for her decision, writing in a separate post: “It’s still amazing to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except for a nipple. As if it was the only part of a woman’s anatomy that could be sexualized. The pacifier that feeds the baby!
According to Instagram community guidelines, the platform does not allow nudity.
“This includes photos, videos, and some digitally created content that shows sexual intercourse, genitalia, and close-ups of fully nude buttocks,” the rules say.
“It also includes some photos of female nipples, but photos in the context of breastfeeding, childbirth and times after childbirth, health-related situations (eg, post-mastectomy, cancer awareness surgery or gender confirmation surgery) or an act of protest is permitted. Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures is also acceptable. »
Instagram did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment on why Madonna was blocked from going live.
