Mobile Banking Benchmark: a worldwide study on the present state of mobile banking
. KBC Mobile further strengthened its leading position compared to last year. Globally, KBC completes the top three. Sia Partners confirms that Europe is the most competitive region for mobile banking.
Sia Partners interviewed no less than 151 banks in 22 countries, which allows the survey to give a representative and up-to-date image of the Mobile Banking market. In recent years, KBC has already been awarded several times in the annual survey by Sia Partners. As a crowning achievement, KBC Mobile was elected
World’s best mobile banking app
in 2021. This year, the survey gave less importance to insurance (an area where KBC Mobile obtains a very good score); as a result, KBC Mobile finds itself in 3rd position.
To designate the winner, Sia Partners based itself on three major criteria: the functionalities of the application, its user-friendliness (“User Experience”) and its score in the app stores. Sia Partners’ conclusion on the KBC Mobile banking app is unequivocal:

Sia Partners’ methodology is transparent, consistent and unequivocal
The digitization of financial services continues at a rapid pace everywhere, under the effect of multiple factors: emergence of new technologies, increased customer expectations, new players, digital currencies, regulatory changes… Bitcoin, ESG, neobanks, Open Data and crypto are some of the trends that are shaking up the traditional banking market. Based on these findings, Sia Partners studied the ability of financial institutions to respond to these challenges through mobile banking.
The final score that Sia Partners assigns to a mobile banking app is the result of the partial scores in terms of features offered in the application, user experience (UX) and scores obtained in the app stores. Some recent figures on the use of KBC Mobile
1.9 million Belgian customers actively use KBC Mobile, with more than 3 million customer contacts per working day.
KBC has nearly one million unique users of third-party services in KBC Mobile.
Over the last eight months, KBC recorded 6.2 million customer conversations with Kate, of which 2.6 million resulted in transactions (banking and insurance services).
