After a scorching but explosive first weekend, the Hellfest returned to Clisson from Thursday June 23 to Sunday June 26, 2022. Heavy metal, black metal, dark folk or even punk… extreme music was still in the spotlight for four more days. A look back at the final day – Sunday June 26 – marked by concerts by Angelus Apatrida, Eyehategod and Mercyful Fate!
Despite the fatigue that could be read on some faces, after a bubbling first weekend, the festival-goers of the Hellfest were back at Clisson to live to the rhythm of four new days that are as festive and extreme as ever. Until Sunday June 26, Metallica, Nince Inch Nails, Scorpions or even Sabaton followed one another on one of the 6 stages of the Hellfest to the delight of the 60,000 festival-goers expected each day. Back to the day Sunday, June 26, 2022 where Angelus Apatrida, Eyehategod or even Mercyful Fate made the show!

In line with Heilung and Wardruna, the shamanic universe of Nytt Land was to be discovered on the stage of the Temple this Sunday noon. The duo, originally from Siberia, offered us a very beautiful set oscillating between dark folk and Nordic folk. Throat singing and drumming didn’t take long to bewitch us!

Another atmosphere, another style on the stage Valley with the French Year of No Light. Here, no singer, but 6 talented musicians (including two drummers) subtly and powerfully showcasing post metal and post rock. Nice discovery!

They come to us from Spain and do thrash metal! The Hispanics ofAngelus Stateless were quick to boost the spectators, exhausted by 6 days already of the festival. Displaying an overflowing energy, the group succeeded in causing some beautiful circle pits.

This Sunday, June 26, Metallica appeared on most T-shirts worn by festival-goers. From the Met Club t-shirts to the American band’s tour t-shirts… everyone had their own little preference for this very special day, marked by the very first concert of Metallica at Hellfest in the space of 15 years!

At Hellfest, there is extreme music, this good-natured atmosphere that we love to find, but also the famous and very acclaimed Ferris wheel. The opportunity to take a little height and fly over the gigantic and magnificent site of the festival!

For once, the most eccentric and sought-after outfits are out for this final day of the Hellfest. Disguises that undeniably contribute to creating this festive atmosphere in Clisson!

Considered one of the pioneers of American sludge metal, Eyehategod set the stage on fire Valley. Carried by singer Mike Williams and guitarist Jimmy Bower, the group from New Orleans shook the spectators in every sense of the word!

Scheduled just before Metallica’s highly anticipated show, Mercyful Fate was THE group not to be missed this Sunday, June 26 at Hellfest. It must be said that the Danish training carried by King Diamond had never performed at Hellfest before.

After 23 years of absence, Mercyful Fate is back on European roads and the Hellfest was a must for these hard rock virtuosos. Neat and bright scenography, hits galore and a King Diamond in great shape… an invigorating set that took us back to the past for our greatest pleasure!

As with every edition of Hellfest, a fireworks display closed this special 15th anniversary edition with a fifteen-minute show that was as luminous as it was breathtaking. Thank you the Hellfest for these 7 days of hell, we will remember it!
