The Archaeological Museum of Granada, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Casa de los Tiros Museum join the celebration of International Museum Day with a series of informative and cultural activities, which include workshops for families, guided tours, interactive games and a concert. The territorial delegate for Culture and Historical Heritage, Antonio, accompanied by the directors of the three museum spaces in Granada, Manuel Ramos, Ricardo Tenorio and Emilio Escoriza, respectively, attended the presentation of the activities for this edition.
In this edition, with the motto The power of museumsthe programming invites Granadans to reflect on the potential of these cultural spaces to transform society and delve into the content of its collections. To do this, the museum institutions propose both face-to-face and virtual activities in which to interact with the participants.
The Museum of Fine Arts Granada has scheduled for May 18 a guided visit to the reserve area and the art gallery restoration workshop, at 11:00 a.m., which will begin with a tour of the deposits that make up the museum’s reserve area, where the attending public will be able to contemplate the bulk of the collection in the corresponding warehouses, with an explanation that will affect the special environmental conditions of conservation. End the visit at restoration workshopwhere the restorer will offer a complete vision of her task, showing the intervention in one of the works currently in the workshop, as well as a guided tour in ‘streaming’ through which citizens will be able to know the content of each of the six rooms of the permanent collection, as well as the warehouses and the restoration workshop.
The House of the Shots Museumfor its part, proposes the concerts Raúl Cantizano -May 18, at 7:00 p.m.- and Ensemble Almijara -Thursday 19, at 8:00 p.m.-, as well as the family experimentation and creativity workshop, in which the landscape of Granada will be discovered through the works of the museum, recycled elements will be used to generate new experiences and artistic creations and collaborative painting will be done with virtual reality in a digital environment. It will take place on Saturday 21, at 11:00.
On Sunday May 22 at 12:00 noon there will be another fun activity of escape room for young people and families. Casa de los Tiros Museum was the residence of the powerful Granada Venegas, a noble family descended from the Nasrid royal house and which was in charge of the Generalife mayor’s office for five centuries. In what was his home, great secrets and some lost keys were hidden that no one has yet been able to find. The participants in the escapism game will have the opportunity to tour the museum discovering these hidden mysteries and solve the different enigmas that will allow them to unravel the final secret. This new activity format allows visitors to get to know the museum through a series of narrative resources and discovery games, clues and deduction. Intuition, observation and mental agility will be the keys to being able to solve all the tests on time.
They also celebrate Museums Day on Archaeological and Ethnological Museum of Granada, with a visit and workshop for ten-year-old schoolchildren, on Wednesday, May 18, under the title ‘Knowing our past’. One quality of museums is the power of community building through education, helping to shape an informed and engaged society. To do this, a guided tour is proposed, followed by an experimental archeology workshop, where students will work on making ceramics, making replicas of pieces from the museum’s collection.
