Ahead of the release of Episode 13, we are analyzing the chances of the anime series Engage Kiss being renewed for Season 2.
There has certainly been no shortage of romantic comedy anime series on the Summer 2022 release slate. However, there have only been a few original anime productions on the recent slate, including two A- 1 Pictures by Lycoris Recoil and Engage Kiss.
Both series will reach their respective conclusions today, but as Engage Kiss fans count down to the Season 1 finale, many are eyeing the possibility of a second date. While Engage Kiss has yet to be publicly renewed for season 2, what are the chances of the anime series returning for a second run?

Engage Kiss episode 13: Release date and time
Engage Kiss episode 13 is program to be published on Saturday September 24e.
The Season 1 finale, “Unsolved Grand Finale” is Position release via Crunchyroll from the following international times:

Engage Kiss Season 2 Renewal Status
As previously reported, Engage Kiss has yet to be publicly renewed for Season 2 by A-Pictures, but what are the chances of the anime continuing into a second run?
The first point of call is to acknowledge that Engage Kiss is an original production, meaning it doesn’t adapt any previously established light novel or manga series. Unfortunately, that means production of a potential second season will have to wait until an original story can be created.
Then we have the fact that Engage Kiss had relatively average reviews and ratings throughout its Season 1 run. 10 out IMDB67% on Anilist3.4/5 out animated planet and on 7.07/10 the MyListAnime.
While those scores are by no means low enough to completely negate a renewal, it does cast doubt on whether A-Pictures considers Engage Kiss worthy of the resources needed to produce a second season.
“The main girls are pretty textbooks. They both bounce off Ogata really well and manage to deal with his mischief, but as individuals they’re pretty flat, not literally though… I can’t say there’s any value in watching this, the animation alone is a reason to want to continue. Either way, fans should expect a very long wait for Engage Kiss Season 2 from A-Pictures themselves, as they already have an extremely busy 2023 ahead of them.
The studio is currently set to work on Nier: Automata Ver1.1a, Mashle: Magic and Muscles, Solo Leveling, Eisen Flugel, and Kaguya-sama: Love is War -The First Kiss Never Ends next year.
Even from the Summer 2022 anime slate, we’d be surprised if A-1 Pictures prioritized Engage Kiss season 2 over Lycoris Recoil season 2, which has been one of the most remarkable slate.
Overall, the renewal status of Engage Kiss is in doubt due to a lack of worldwide popularity and Season 2, if renewed, will likely be pushed back up the priority list at A-1 Pictures until at the end of 2023 or, more realistically, 2024.
