Friday July 1st and half bad news arrives. We started the day with a statement about the performance of KORN. For reasons of works at the airport from where the plane should take off after its performance at the festival is under construction. So after a lot of work, the organization manages to move their concert to Sunday at 4:15 p.m., something that disrupts the plans for that day.
The second day begins bitter after this news, although it is not entirely bad, but we would all like to see KORN playing at night to be able to enjoy their show even more. Despite this, no one allows the energy to drop and we set off again towards the event venue.
We headed to the Main Stage to meet a group that would be a big surprise for me, FREE CITY.
The pucelana band with more than ten years of experience showed us that despite being unknown to many they were going to destroy us with their particular style similar to punk rock with hints of many other styles. Although it was the third day of the event and the second day of the festival, the numerous attendees at the concert by FREE CITY they were fully charged with energy. They sang their songs and were encouraged to do numerous circle pits.
Without a doubt a band that becomes part of my playlist.
We stood on the main stage eager to see OUR HOLLOW OUR HOME. With Connor Hallisey leading the band they gave us a great lesson in pure metalcore. His frontman did not stop still for a second, completely filling the big stage of theRESURRECTION FEST. Throughout their show they gave us hits like “Monarch”, “Remember Me” or “Overcast”.
We walked to the Ritual stage to see the British this time THE RAVEN AGE. Despite the fact that at that precise moment the sun was shining on the stage, the band delighted us with a great staging, yes, wearing sunglasses.
It was time to attend the Main Stage again, this time to enjoy CALIBAN.
From the first minute, the quintet had a large number of followers waiting for their appearance on the stage.
His presence on stage was noticeable from start to finish. They came to surprise many with a cover of the legendary RAMMSTEIN.
Back on the big stage, we got ready to wait for the Ukrainians JINJER. Being Tatiana one of the most anticipated female presences of the entire festival.
His logo appeared on the screen in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. And it is worth remembering that JINJER they are one of the many groups affected by the war in the country.
Despite this tragic situation, the band remained in a good mood, showing big smiles and offering a live show full of energy. Giving our ears songs like “Pisces” or “Home Back”, the latter being a tribute to their land.
For the first time in several days, we visited the Desert Stage to see a very characteristic band, THE ALTAR OF THE HOLOCAUST.
Filling the venue with its peculiar atmosphere full of smoke and religious symbols according to its look and its music.
Despite overlapping with a big band like ILL CHILD, the presence of spectators was quite a lot, which personally surprised me. With a perfect sound and an energetic interpretation that makes your outfits look even more than they already do.
We moved forward in the schedules and it was time to RISE AGAINST, more than consolidated training worldwide and highly anticipated by festival attendees. With more than six albums behind him and an impeccable career. They appeared with a very curious staging, decorating the front of the stage with small televisions.
Those from Chicago not only played their most recent songs but also had time for their great classics like “Savior”, “Help Is On The Way”, “Re-Education” or “Prayer Of The Refugee”.
RISE AGAINST They certainly showed that they are still as energetic as ever.
And it was time for the headliners of the day, SABATON.
Already with its classic decoration on stage, it had all its fans eager to see them.
The tank and the trenches approached us that, once again, SABATON would give us a set of pyrotechnics and fire, something that characterizes them.
The Swedes were not new to the festival and they were already in some of its previous editions. And although that seemed to play in their favor, in my opinion, I noticed them a little weaker compared to their last visit. Even so, they are a band worthy of being the heirs of big names like IRON MAIDEN or AC/DC and in recent years they have placed themselves in a very high position in the world of metal.
His show began between explosions of shrapnel and flames, thus helping to appease the cold that many of us had in our bodies. So the pyrotechnics were not only appreciated on a visual level, but also on a physical level.
Between explosion and explosion they played songs like “Stormtrooper”, “The Red Baron” or “Soldier Of Heaven”. To give us the finishing touch to his show with “To Hell And Back” and “For Those About To Rock”.
With another unexpected announcement. The notice came that LIONHEART they would have to delay their show until 2:30am due to a flight delay. And it is that between covid, airline strike and others, this edition will be remembered for “logistical problems” but as a meme.
But to put the best finishing touch to the evening, it was the turn of the extreme metal of DECAPITATED. Their set of lights was ideal for the time they had to play and it is without a doubt a band that you have to see at night to be able to enjoy 100% of their show and their extreme riffs.
With “Nine Steps” they put an end to the day on Friday.
