The young artist Camila Cabello is going through a delicate personal moment accentuated by her recent breakup with fellow singer Shawn Mendes. For many, they were the ideal couple and during their two years of relationship they have shared the kindest face of their love on social networks.

However, behind closed doors, things were different and now Camila assumes all responsibility for the end of the sentimental relationship between the two. The 24-year-old singer blames the breakup on her growing mental health issues stemming from her success.

Camila rose to fame when she was 15 years old and since then she has lived by and for her profession, the problem with this is that she never has free time to sit with herself and be able to reflect on who she is. Cabello herself has admitted: “I don’t know who I am apart from my career” and that is equivalent to dying of success.

It is paradoxical to observe how, with the arrival of fame, these young artists receive media attention, large fortunes of money, legions of fans, and yet they lose themselves. Cabello claims to be on the edge and has publicly admitted to suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and severe episodes of stress and anxiety.

All this is due, according to his own testimony, to his busy schedule and the demands of his work. After announcing her breakup with Shawn, the networks were filled with speculation and this is the reason why Camila wanted to clarify that the reason for everything is her mental health problems.

The disorders began before the pandemic started “Before the pandemic I already felt drained, without energy. I’ve been working non-stop since I was 15 years old, ”she admitted distraught on Apple TV. She also explained that “I was never home, I didn’t know who I was and add to that all my battles with mental health.”

The Cuban-American artist says her stress and toxicity levels were so high back then that she didn’t even have time to allow herself a meltdown because she always had responsibilities to attend to in order to maintain her global success.

In May 2020 he told the world that her “best friend” was anxiety because “she always tries to keep me safe, I listen to her but I don’t let her make decisions for me”. With the confinement and constant coexistence with Shawn, he began to feel even more unstable and that fatally damaged a relationship that today is history.

His own honest and mature words say it all: “I felt very unstable during the quarantine. He would break down crying at least once a day. I was left alone with my anxiety and with my mind. That was interfering with my relationship” and, although Mendes was always by her side, the fact of having been working non-stop for almost 10 years and suddenly seeing herself with nothing to do and locked up, was too hard for her.

Without wanting to burden Shawn with the responsibility of living those dramatic episodes derived from his mental health problems, Camila made the decision to “dedicate time to myself and heal” by ending her courtship, which is now a friendship.

In addition, Cabello recommends her followers ask professionals for help and gives tips that are working for her little by little “therapy, exercise, good nutrition, meditation and knowing how to organize my time,” she says.
