Slipknot’s Corey Taylor: ‘One of the problems with writing one of the heaviest albums of all time is that people expect you to do the same thing over and over again’

The End, So Far, the new album by Slipknot, is somewhat controversial among the band’s fans. Since its release, online debates about the opus have remained quite heated, due to its strong experimental nature.

In a recent interview with NMEthe singer Corey Taylor admitted that the band likes to push boundaries: “We’ve always been experimental… Everyone thinks we’re constantly heavy. We have moments of brilliance and brilliance, but at the same time we have songs like Circle. Speaking of being haunted by Iowa’s heritage in the aforementioned interview, Taylor explained: “One of the problems with writing one of the heaviest albums of all time is that people expect you to do the same thing over and over again. He then added: “You also have to remember that a lot of the population is made up of people who create petitions every time a new Batman stars in a goddamn movie, and they’re always wrong. Who knows what he does in the end? You idiots, sometimes you just have to shut your mouth and listen to what you’re being told.”

Slipknot’s new album, The End, So Far, was released on September 30 via Roadrunner Records. And some physical copies were misprinted.

Produced by Slipknot and Joe Barresi, The End, So Far features 12 tracks, including 2021 single The Chapeltown Rag, and the follow-up to 2019’s widely acclaimed We Are Not Your Kind album, which scored the third No. consecutive Slipknot on the Billboard 200.

According officialcharts.com, The End, So Far topped the official UK chart. This is the band’s third No. 1 in the country, following Iowa in 2001 and We Are Not Your Kind in 2019. Charts for the band in other countries will arrive in the coming days.

In addition, Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg recently described the band’s new album as “an interesting step forward”.

Speaking about The End, So Far to Wacken TV, he said, among other things: “From my perspective, there’s a lot of traditional Slipknot stuff on the album, stuff you can’t help but do. But we’re also very happy to dig deeper into the things that we know are hallmarks of Slipknot and challenge ourselves to do experimental and creative things.
