Music – The Urban Empire festival strikes back from August 25 to 28 in Limoges

After a canceled 2020 edition, Covid obliges, then a mixed 2021 edition because of post-covid trial and error, the Limougeaud current music festival has not said its last word. Oh no ! The Horizons Croisés teams have rolled up their sleeves to create an ambitious, eclectic and renewed 2022 edition. A brief overview of what awaits you.

Where and when ? For the second consecutive year, the festival will take place at the Beaublanc stadium in Limoges, 23 boulevard de Beaublanc, from August 25 to 28, from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Which artists? The programming is intended to be diversified, “to interest all audiences, from the youngest to the oldest”, sums up Asse Seck, director of the festival.

Roméo Elvis, Trois cafés gourmands, Suzane, Laylow, Vitalic, Ska-P, Grand Corps Malade, Zaz, Aldebert, and many others will share the stage. “We are counting on a super strong and coherent aesthetic,” says Amadou, in charge of programming. If the scene will be more electro hip-hop on Friday, Sunday will be more song-oriented for example… For all tastes, then.

How much ? For access to one day, and therefore to five concerts, you will have to pay 42 €. There are two-day passes for €70, three-day passes for €100 and a four-day pass for €130.

What is the “Before”? This year, the organizers are going to whet the appetites of festival-goers with a date not to be missed outside the festival itself, next Saturday July 16. For the occasion, Urban Empire leaves the borders of Limoges and settles down for an evening on the Crouzy esplanade in Boisseuil, where the rapper brothers Bigflo and Oli will come to set fire.

What about local talent? This year, four musical competitions are organized upstream of the festival to allow regional groups to perform on stage.

The Springboard Urban Empire Festival, in particular, was created to allow groups from the region to perform from June 23 to July 9 at the Palais-sur-Vienne, renamed Palais-sur-Plage for the occasion. Several groups have already been selected. A jury of professionals will select ten projects which will then perform on stage France Blue during the festival.

Urban Empire is also keen to seek out young talent in high schools with theUrban Empire High School. On June 25, musicians from different high schools in the region will play in the legendary Limoges room of John-Lennon. Two bands will be selected to perform during the festival.

Rappers from the Limogeaud districts of La Bastide, Aurence and Beaubreuil will be able to take part in theUrban Block Party June 16, 17 and 18. Five of them will be selected to take the stage on Friday August 26, an evening geared towards electro and hip-hop culture.

Finally, a musical derby offers employees of the same company to form a group and play on stage France Blue of the festival.
